While it's not commonly known how this strange area came about, in the central part of New Haven is a stretch of land where supernatural powers just don't work. These areas are those grid codes that begin with the letter 'H' on '+map'. When you enter the No Power Zone, you will receive a notification of how your character feels there.
Vampires who enter the No Power Zone become more human than they have been since their embrace. Within the area, they may not use disciplines or spend blood points. On the other hand, they also lose many of their natural vulnerabilities. Sunlight harms them no more than it harms a normal human (not that there are problems with sunlight in New Haven's ever-present fog). They are cut off from the beast, and do not have to fear frenzy. They are still not 'alive', however. Their heart does not beat. They are cool to the touch. In addition, they still suffer penalties for being awake during the day.
Shifters are forced into a natural state. If they enter the No Power Zone in a form that is not natural (for example, hispo, crinos, and glabro for garou), they revert to breed form, or to homid, in the case of the metis. Entering the zone in a natural form (such as wolf or human) leaves the shifter in that shape, and unable to change out of it. Please note that this also applies to all vampiric disciplines that change their shape to something natural. On the bright side, shifters within the area lose their allergy to silver, and do not need to fear frenzy, and they can interact with humans in a normal manner, regardless of how much rage they have. In addition, they may not spend gnosis or rage.
This suppression affects all powers, including those of psychics. The only character type whose powers still work is the Priest.
Obfuscation and other forms of concealment and illusion /are/ dropped when entering the No Power Zone. Beware!
