This newsfile has to do with the various 'conversions' that can happen ICly during play. Examples of this are vampiric Embrace, Ghouling, forcing a shifter to Dance the spiral, or corrupting a human and infesting him or her with a bane.
There are all IC actions that many characters have the capability of doing. However, while it might be IC to do one of these actions to a character, there are OOC considerations as well. For example, that hot little redhead that you're so eager to turn into your eternal vampiric mistress of the night might just have an alt that happens to be the Prince of the Camarilla. Since you aren't allowed to have alternate overlap, the character, or the alt, would wind up being forfeit.
There are also simply cases where the character may not be convertable due to IC reasons. Again, you don't know the whole story. For this reason, the policy on this game is that if you wish to convert a character in some way, you need to @mail your sphere staff and give them a head's up. Once that's done, do /not/ proceed with your conversion RP until you hear back that it's all right.
Any such actions that are RP'd out without sphere staff's consent may be retconned, or the character being converted could even wind up being killed by the conversion. The responsibility to make sure that the conversion was cleared with staff lies on both the converter and the convertee. Please make sure you get permission first.
